Kryn Dynasty

Overview

The dominant political and military power in Nuxan, headquartered in Rosohna in Xhorhas and expanding aggressively across Wildemount and beyond. The Dynasty is a drow-led imperial state that has governed Xhorhas for over a thousand years, originally as a regional power and increasingly — following the Exodus — as a continent-spanning colonial institution. The Kryn are inseparable from The Luxon faith in practice, but the Dynasty is the governmental body; the Luxon church is the religious institution it commands and deploys.

The Dynasty is organized around a Den structure — noble houses of consecuted souls who have accumulated lifetimes of experience and political capital. Dens compete for influence, resources, and proximity to the Bright Queen. The current Bright Queen, Bright Queen Caelestis Kryn, is the daughter of Leylas Kryn and Quana Kryn, both of whom consecuted repeatedly over centuries before their souls could no longer bear the accumulated weight of multiple lifetimes.

Key Members

Bright Queen Caelestis Kryn — sovereign and supreme religious authority.

Key Members

Auris Vel — Lens operative, Bassuras station.
Soryn Vossira — Overseer of Light, missionary operations.
Essek Thelyss — former Shadowhand, current status unknown.

Military & Intelligence

Aurora Watch — the Dynasty’s military arm, functioning simultaneously as a religious enforcement body, an occupying force in conquered territories, and a covert archaeological and intelligence operation tasked with locating Luxon beacons.

The Lens — the Dynasty’s intelligence division, descended from the original Lens operatives of Campaign Two. Rebuilt and expanded over a millennium into a continent-wide network. Auris Vel operates as a Lens operative in Bassuras.

Mission houses — civilian-facing Luxon institutions operating in cities throughout Nuxan. Public function: consecution services, community aid, political relationship-building. Actual function: intelligence gathering, soft-power conversion, and beacon reconnaissance. The mission house model is the primary tool of Kryn expansion in territories where military force is not yet viable.

The Beacon Operation

Of the twelve known Luxon beacons, the Kryn Dynasty currently holds ten. The remaining two are unlocated. The recovery of all twelve beacons is the Dynasty’s highest-classification operational objective, known only to the innermost circle of Kryn leadership and the Bright Queen herself. The Consecution War, the Pillage of Vasselheim, and the full extent of the Dynasty’s missionary expansion are all downstream of this objective. The faithful carrying out these operations are told they are spreading the light of the Luxon. They are not told what the beacons, when assembled, will actually produce.

The beacon collection operation is the true engine of the Consecution War. The Bright Queen does not know the nature of the entity the ritual will produce. She believes she is summoning a god. See 03-Climax for full detail.
