Arcana Domain

Subclass of the Cleric — Homebrew for Heretics of the Old Gods

Overview

The Arcana Domain draws on fire as both creative and destructive force — the forge flame that shapes raw material into something more than it was, and the consuming blaze that reduces everything to ash. Clerics of this domain, called Forgekissed by those who follow Azgurathul, are survivors and makers who channel elemental fire through their bodies and their work. They are difficult to kill, dangerous to approach, and capable of releasing devastation that feels less like divine magic and more like something vast briefly directing its attention downward.

The power the Forgekissed draw does not come from a god in any sense the Luxon missionaries would recognize. It bleeds through a gap in the fabric of the planes — a rift left by a catastrophic event a thousand years ago that nobody looked at closely enough. What lives on the other side of that gap has never acknowledged its worshippers. The fire comes through anyway. At higher levels, the nature of what is being channeled becomes increasingly difficult to categorize.

Features

Level 3: Forge-Hardened

The fire that bleeds through the rift has tempered your body against its own nature. You have resistance to fire damage.

Level 3: Channel Divinity — The Burning Eye Opens

As a Magic action, you expend a use of Channel Divinity to release a surge of fire in a 15-foot radius centered on yourself. Every creature in the area, including yourself and allies, must succeed on a saving throw against your spell save DC or take 4d6 fire damage on a failed save and half that total on a successful one. Creatures other than you must make a Dexterity saving throw, but being the entity channeling the power, you must succeed on a Constitution saving throw.

Level 6: Consuming Fire

The fire you channel feeds you even as it burns everything else. When you deal fire damage to any creature, you gain temporary hit points equal to half the total fire damage dealt.

Level 7: Flametongue Strike

When you select Divine Strike, the damage type dealt is fire damage.

Level 17: Channel Divinity — The Forge Within

As a Magic action, you expend a use of Channel Divinity to release a beam of fire that emerges from you in a 120-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Creatures within 5 feet of the line must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be Blinded until the end of your next turn. Creatures directly in the path of the line must additionally make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC, taking 10d12 fire damage on a failed save or half that total on a successful one.
