SORCERER
What remains of magic in bloodlines is residue — old power without its source, divine energy that dispersed when the gods left and settled unevenly into the population over a thousand years of dilution. Sorcerers are the people that residue is loudest in. They didn’t study for this. They didn’t earn it. It’s in them, and the world they live in has extremely specific feelings about what that means.
In Nuxan, sorcerers who practice openly are criminals. The ones who’ve survived are either very careful or very fast.
Available Subclasses
- Wild Magic Sorcery (PHB 2024) — The snarl beneath the Hellcatch bleeds wild magic upward through the rock on no predictable schedule. A Wild Magic sorcerer from Bassuras isn’t surging randomly — they’re resonating with a specific, destabilized source, and the surges they produce carry its particular signature.
- Aberrant Mind (Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything) — Something from outside the normal order of reality made itself at home in the bloodline. In Nuxan, where the Far Realm influence of the Eldrazi war left scars in the astral fabric that haven’t fully closed, Aberrant Mind sorcerers may be drawing on something with a specific and traceable source.
- Shadow Magic (Xanathar’s Guide to Everything) — Shadowfell residue in the bloodline, which in Nuxan means a thousand years of ungoverned accumulation as the source material. A Shadow Magic sorcerer drawing on that is drawing on something that has been getting louder, more complex, and more dangerous for ten centuries.
- Crimson Dynasty (The Crooked Moon) — Blood burned for power, with a hunger that grows with use. Crimson sorcerers are not vampiric in the traditional sense — the source of their power is the vital essence of life itself, harvested from wounds, from proximity to the living, from their own body’s reserves.
- Skinshifter (Heliana’s Guide to Monster Hunting) — The spells change the body. Sometimes intentionally. More often as a byproduct — a mutation that surfaces when a spell fires, a physical transformation triggered by magical expenditure. The adaptations are unpredictable by design. Some of them are advantages. Some of them are not.
