GUNNER

Firearms have existed in Nuxan for a thousand years, since Percival de Rolo built the first one in Whitestone. In that time they’ve spread, degraded, been improvised, rebuilt, and jury-rigged past any resemblance to Percy’s original precision engineering. What’s available in Bassuras ranges from masterwork to actively dangerous to the person holding it. A Gunner isn’t a Fighter who happens to carry a gun — this is a class built entirely around what a firearm makes possible.

Available Subclasses

  • Bulletsmith (Zaman’s Guide to the End of Time) — The ammunition is the weapon. A Bulletsmith’s rounds are modified, crafted, and loaded for specific purposes, and the gap between what they can do and what a standard round does is the entire point of the subclass.
  • Chronotrigger (Zaman’s Guide to the End of Time) — Time-displacement integrated into gunfighting technique. The Chronotrigger’s relationship to dunamantic tradition is either studied or stumbled into, and in Nuxan the line between those two origins has specific political weight.
  • Deadeye (Zaman’s Guide to the End of Time) — Precision marksmanship stripped to its fundamentals. In the Hellcatch, where dust storms reduce visibility and wind patterns are disrupted by the snarl’s heat bleed, a Deadeye’s ability to put a round where they intend it at range is a rarer skill than it sounds.
  • Slugger (Zaman’s Guide to the End of Time) — Heavy weapons at close range, maximum damage output, minimal concern for elegance. The Blood Pits have produced this. So have raider bands and the less formal enforcement operations of the Court of Dust.
  • Spellslinger (Zaman’s Guide to the End of Time) — Something happens when they pull the trigger. They didn’t study for this — it’s in them, and the gun is the only delivery mechanism they’ve found that doesn’t immediately go sideways. In a world where unauthorized arcane practice is illegal, someone whose magic runs through a weapon occupies an unusual gray zone that neither the Cerberus Assembly nor the Luxon church has a clean framework for.
  • Dragoon (Zaman’s Guide to the End of Time) — Mounted gunfighting, adapted for Bassuras’s crawler and desert mount culture. A Dragoon on the Flats is a specific tactical problem for raider bands, who have learned that the mounted figure firing from a moving platform is always a priority target and almost never an easy one.
