BLOOD HUNTER

The Claret Orders have survived the Exodus and the millennium that followed. They exist outside institutional religion and outside the law — an older, harder tradition that predates the Luxon by centuries and has no interest in accommodating it. Blood hunters aren’t sanctioned by anyone. They operate in the same legal gray zone as unauthorized wizards and hedge god clerics, except they’re harder to kill and considerably more willing to demonstrate that.

In Nuxan, where the Shadowfell leaks ungoverned dead into the living world and the ruins beneath Bassuras contain things that multiple survey teams have failed to return from, there is no shortage of work for people with specific expertise. Building a Blood Hunter character requires a Claret Orders connection in your backstory — not necessarily deep institutional affiliation, but an explanation of how you came into the training.

Available Subclasses

  • Order of the Lycan (Blood Hunter (2022)) — Transformation held barely under control through hemocraft discipline. In Bassuras, a Lycan who loses that control in the wrong neighborhood becomes the kind of incident the Court of Dust uses to justify expanded enforcement.
  • Order of the Mutant (Blood Hunter (2022)) — Alchemical self-modification, deliberate and costly.
  • Order of the Ghostslayer (Blood Hunter (2022)) — Specialists against a problem that, in Nuxan’s ungoverned Shadowfell, is only getting worse.
  • Order of the Profane Soul (Blood Hunter (2022)) — A warlock’s pact fused with hunter discipline. The entity backing it is fully aware of what hemocraft does to a body, and chose this anyway.
