Sentinels of Avalir

Description

An army of Aeormatons created to defend the flying city of Avalir (and by extension Aeor) during the Calamity. Sealed beneath glacial ice in Eiselcross at the time of Aeor’s destruction and preserved there for millennia.

Status in Nuxan (1000 A.E.): Uncovered by archaeologists during the Climax arc. When delivered to Bright Queen Caelestis Kryn, a rogue faction within the Cerberus Assembly — likely led by Yussa Errenis — seizes a platoon to fight against her instead. The Aeormatons don’t differentiate cleanly between divine and mortal power and, confused by the post-Exodus state of affairs, alternately fight alongside or against political or magical authority depending on who gave the last order.

They outlive the Consecution War. Many join scholarly factions as retainers of knowledge; others become mercenaries. The surviving Sentinels eventually construct the Compact of Brass in conjunction with the Cobalt Veil.

Contemporary to EON — both created in the same Aeorian period, both surviving into the present through different means.
