Thesik

Description

The first among the Mind Lords of the Shattered Teeth — three ancient psionicists who transferred their consciousnesses into obsidian orbs millennia ago to preserve their power and their carefully maintained corner of the world. He was once a brilliant young man who loved pranks and camaraderie and the thrill of being the best at everything he attempted. That person is difficult to find now.

What remains is a god of death who has been sitting in the dark for longer than most civilizations have existed, filled with regret, wanting nothing more than to finally end his existence, and unable to do so because the responsibility of maintaining what he built weighs too heavily on what is left of his conscience.

In the centuries since the Exodus, Thesik’s depression has curdled into something more dangerous. He has stopped believing in preservation. He has started believing in acceleration. The world is dying — has been dying since before the gods left — and Thesik has concluded that the kindest thing he can do for it is to help it finish. He has made pacts with forces that would appall his younger self. He directs power toward ends that his oldest friend would not sanction and his lost love would not forgive.

A warlock serving Thesik is serving someone who has decided that destruction is mercy.

Personality

Ancient depression that has curdled into acceleration. Regret for what he’s become, but not enough to stop. The person he was is audible in how he describes things and invisible in what he does.
