Faithless Devotion
General feat (Prerequisite: level 4+) — Campaign homebrew for Heretics of the Old Gods
There’s no god listening anymore. There’s only what you’re willing to spend to make the strike matter — and you will spend anything. You gain the following benefits:
- Ability Score Increase. Increase your Wisdom or Charisma by 1, to a maximum of 20.
- Conviction Smite. When you hit a creature with an attack roll, you can take one level of Exhaustion to deal an extra 2d8 radiant or necrotic damage (your choice each time). For each additional level of Exhaustion you take as part of the same attack, this extra damage increases by 1d8, to a maximum of 5d8. If the target is an Undead or a Fiend, the extra damage increases by a further 1d8.
- No Higher Power. You have no limit on how often you use Conviction Smite other than the Exhaustion you’re willing to endure. Exhaustion taken this way follows all normal rules, including that reaching Exhaustion level 6 kills you.
- Resilient Conviction. When you finish a Long Rest, you remove 2 levels of Exhaustion instead of 1. The extra level removed this way must be one you gained from Conviction Smite; if you have no such Exhaustion, you recover at the normal rate of 1 level per Long Rest.
